I’m blessed with DIY skills since childhood. Born and brought up in family with contractor background, I have inherited the skill from my dad who was a part time contractor. I have evolved passion into DIY projects overtime. Inspired by social media, I have decided to go for DIY decor ideas for my engagement.
There are vast number of DIY projects available online. I referred to one of the projects uploaded in youtube (click the picture above) to make this beautiful wall hanging art. I used polystyrene for 3D effect and paint it using acrylic paint. The base was completed with cardboard wrapped in bronze shining paper and peacock feathers ( purchased from one of stalls at the base of Batu Caves temple, each cost at RM1) glued with hot melt sticks.
“ Every great design begins with an even better story." -Lorinda Mamo, designer ”

My parents hired local event decorator, a friend of my father. I conducted a thorough research in his Facebook page on decorations that he has done in the past events like wedding or engagement. I opted for something simple yet trendy. I sort out the colors based on peacock (colorful) theme: purple, teal, blue and pink. I’m a self-taught artist who fascinate in sketching and painting. I begin with designing backdrop incorporating selected theme and colors. I brought the design to the attention of my event decorator and he welcome it with open-mindedness. You can see the outcome in above picture. Although it's not up to my expectation but overall I'm satisfied with the outcome.
Purchased this multipurpose board from IKEA at RM 50 ( during promotion) and the entire design done on blackboard using colored blackboard chalks.

Color markers used to sketch the design on whiteboard. The selfie pics are glued on the whiteboard and handmade selfie props has been placed for photobooth.

The henna artist, a close friend of mine, I have requested her to draw henna based on my DIY wall hanging art.
